Rooted in Discovery Community Expectations & Commitments

Learning with Rooted in Discovery is a privilege and a shared adventure. Each family becomes part of a community built on curiosity, respect, and responsibility. To help our space flourish, we ask every parent and student to honor the commitments below. Thank you for choosing to grow with us.

Student Commitments

As a member of our learning community, I agree to:

  • Be present and engaged, giving my full attention to the lesson and participating in the learning process.
  • Listen with respect, following my teacher’s instructions and asking questions to improve my understanding.
  • Support the learning of others, choosing actions that help classmates feel safe, focused, and included.
  • Care for our co-op environment, treating materials, supplies, and shared spaces with respect and responsibly.
  • Keep electronics away during class, allowing myself and others to stay rooted in hands-on discovery.
  • Arrive prepared, bringing all needed materials and taking responsibility for my personal belongings.
  • Help restore our space, cleaning my workspace and working with classmates and teachers to tidy up after activities.
  • Take ownership of my work, bringing home papers and projects, and completing any homework my parent requires.
  • Honor my commitment to attendance, making every effort to be present for scheduled classes and completing any missed work so I can fully participate when I return.

Community Responsibility

A safe, welcoming, and joyful learning environment is something we build together. When expectations are not met, we follow a clear and supportive process:

  1. Gentle verbal reminder
  2. Written notice sent home
  3. Parent meeting and individualized behavior plan
  4. Removal from co-op if necessary

Our goal is always to meet students where they are. We recognize the difference between social-emotional challenges and intentional disrespect, and we will make every reasonable effort to support individual needs so students can participate safely and confidently.

If you have concerns about your child’s learning style, emotional needs, or required accommodations, please reach out. We are here to collaborate with you and ensure your child’s experience is both nurturing and successful.
